Fun in the lake

Fun in the lake

Get into the Water!

Swim!
Sager’s Lake is a long narrow lake with two gently sloping sandy beaches and is about 15’ deep in the middle. You may use our USCG-approved life jackets (we have many sizes) or bring your own.  There are plentiful minnows, toads, turtles, snails, and freshwater clams in the shallows. Keep your eyes open for the shy great blue heron, who lives at Sager’s lake.
Remember: Never ever swim alone!

Fun in boats!
Pedal-boats, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and canoes. learn to sail on the sunfish sailboat.

Sand castles!
Build a castle on the sandy beaches.

Catch a fish!
Bring a fishing pole and bait (or dig for bait once you’re here) and drop your line off one of the fishing docks.

Deer in the forest at Lake O' The Woods Club

Deer are abundant

Explore The Woods

Listen!
Be as quiet as possible and you’re sure to spot a deer, and there’s always a fawn in the summer, often twins or even triplets. Look for wild turkeys wandering through the woods. We have Coyotes, red foxes, Woodchucks, groundhogs, fishers, and beavers, too. Listen for trains going by.

Bird watch!
There’s a heron that glides up and down the lake all day, a hawk family near the East Pier, jays, robins, Woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and owls.

Hike!
It takes about 45 - 60 minutes (or make it take longer by walking really slowly and enjoying the scenery) to circumnavigate Sager’s lake on foot

Level: Moderate (hilly, steep areas, roots, and stairs in some places). Distance: 1.4 miles, or ~3500 steps. Hike NudE except at two posted coverup zones: Must bring a wrap with you.

A shorter and easier hike option - about 10-15 minutes - is between the clubhouse and the east pier. There are stone stairs, but otherwise is flat.
